Dear Ainab people and members of the old American Community in Lebanon. I have started this blog because a number of Ainabees, educators and members of Lebanon's old American Community have said they would be interested in trying to record some of the history of the community before the older generation are no longer with us. We can add posts and photos that will fill out some of the history of the US community and its families. Mostly, it is simply to have a bit of fun. Best, Joshua Landis

Nina at the tennis court is sitting exactly where her watermelon stand was - she was on the other side of the fence, but was there a hole in it for exchanging cash for watermelon slices? Painting at the Landis house - I simply remember how important it felt to be included, and when I look at the pictures and see that pretty much everyone was taller than me (except John of course) I understand why. It also struck me, I think, that someone had quite a hold on us kids to get us doing something civilized, all in one place. Normally it was the utter freedom to roam that was so magical. More later - I caught my thumb in a door today so can't type very easily!
